I Samuel 12

Isaiah 40:10-11

I. Samuel’s Example: Disciple myself (12:1-5)
a. Invitation for personal examination
i. Family – “my sons are here with you”
ii. Lifetime – “led you from my youth”

Step #1 – “Train yourself in godliness.” (1 Timothy 4:7b)

II. Samuel’s Faith: Trust God’s Power (12:6-12)
a. Faith in God NOT self for…
i. Deliverance – “He sent Moses and Aaron”
ii. Discipline – “they forgot…He handed them over”
iii. Dependence – “…we must have a king…”

Step #2 – “For this reason we labor and strive, because we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all people, especially of those who believe.” (1 Timothy 4:10)

III. Samuel’s Instructions: Disciple Others (12:13-25)
a. God’s way…(v.23)
i. Obey – “fear, worship, and obey Him” (v.24)
ii. Repent – “don’t turn away…worship the Lord with all your heart” (v.20)
iii. Faithfulness – “The Lord will not abandon His people…” (v.22)

Step #3 – “I will teach you the good and right way.” (I Samuel 12:23b)
