At First Baptist Church of Lenoir City, we recognize the need for a formal membership.
We ask you to commit to membership for three reasons:
1. A Biblical Reason: Christ is committed to the church.
2. A Practical Reason: It defines who can be counted on. Membership identifies our family.
3. A Personal Reason: It produces spiritual growth. The New Testament links accountability to spiritual growth. You cannot be accountable when you are not committed to any specific church family.
To become a member of First Baptist Church, you can join by the following means:
•Receive Christ and be baptized by immersion.
•Transfer membership from another Southern Baptist Church.
•Submit a faith statement from another denomination stating baptism by immersion.
•Submit a faith statement from another denomination and request to be baptized by immersion.
Baptism is one of the most important parts of the Christian life, because Christ Himself commanded that we be baptized. (Read Matthew 28:19, Romans 6:3-4).
Baptism is not a Baptist command, but is a command of Jesus Christ. Jesus said, “Whosoever shall keep even the least of His commandments shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.” Furthermore, Jesus Christ Himself said that if we love Him we will keep His commandments (John 14:15).
Throughout the New Testament men, women, boys and girls joyfully obeyed the command of Christ and were happily baptized as soon as they received the Gift of Eternal Life.
