Dr. Jeff Bowden was called to be Discipleship Pastor in July of 2004. Prior to coming to our church, he served churches in Florida, Texas, and North Carolina. He duties at First Baptist include adult Bible study, adult discipleship, missions ministry, evangelism, women’s ministry, prayer ministry, and assimilation of new members.
After graduating from Lenoir City High School, he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion from Carson-Newman College. He earned his Master of Religious Education degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas and a Doctor of Education Ministry degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, New Orleans, LA.
Pastor Jeff is currently the assistant director of the East Tennessee Extension Center for Southern Seminary at First Baptist and Sunday School Consultant for the Tennessee Baptist Convention. He has also served in numerous denominational positions, including President of the Tennessee Baptist Religious Education Association, Associational Sunday School Director, Regional Sunday School Director, State Sunday School Planning Team Leader, conference leader on Associational and State levels for Lifeway Christian Resources, and local ministry boards.
Pastor Jeff and his wife, Terri, have two children: Michael (student at Union University) and Joshua (student at Christian Academy of Knoxville).
